Abstract
The essay, which questions the protection of animal welfare, proposes a careful and absolutely critical examination of the European legislation on the subject. In this perspective, attention is focused in particular on the wording of the art. 13 TFEU, as well as on the approach of the supranational legislator with regard to problems concerning animal welfare, as resulting from the contents of Directive 2010/63 / EU. No less scrupulous, on the other hand, is the analysis of the complex and contradictory internal regulatory framework, resulting from the transposition of the aforementioned legislation. It is precisely in the light of such an investigation, that the essay reaches, finally, to quite severe observations regarding the relationship between the two systems of order as regards the protection of experimental animals.
