The Public Sphere and the Concept of the Imaginary Principal
Abstract
Democratic regimes inherited from Nineteenth century liberalism traits that were included with much difficulties in the new democratic State. Neither the traditional theory of representation, nor the new economic theory of democracy seem capable of making sense of the several contradiction present in the working of the institution of the democratic State and in the ideology meant to justifying their activity. On the other, side public sphere is becoming the most relevant institution and the imaginary mandate governing the agent operating in it are the most interesting phenomenon of the current scene.
