Abstract

Regarding the cyberspace as an environment for the storage and the transit of digitized information, the paper explores the importance of the link connecting memory, writing and code. By establishing a relationship between the platonic suspect about writing and the technical difference between memory and reminiscence stated by Aristotle, the paper refers on the one hand to the ceaseless influence of the two thinkers on pre-modern and modern reflection dedicated to natural memory, artificial memory and mnemo-technique; on the other hand, it suggests an image of the cyberspace as a new world that is going to be generated by an older one.
