Abstract

The paper analyzes the thought of Francesco D’Agostino with specific regard to the topic of the family. D’Agostino’s thought is examined starting from his numerous works dedicated to this subject, where the family is interpreted as a constitutive dimension of the human being, and as a supra-functional structure. The text also analyzes, and discusses, the positions taken by D’Agostino in the contemporary debate, with reference to some specific issues: the legal recognition of same-sex relationships, the meaning and legal value of gender identity, and the problem of multiculturalism.
