Abstract
The paper deals with Bobbio’s reflection on good government and presents the law as indispensable tool to put society on the road to common good. The analysis argues that the problem of good government cannot be answered by the simple selection of good rulers. Rather, the good government requires a commitment to structure power so that limits and reasons to its use can be given. In this light, the law represents the wherewithal to ensure good government. In last section, Bobbio’s arguments concerning law as path to good government are discussed looking at his investigation on the quest for peace
