Abstract
My purposes are (i) to frame the phenomenon of legal documents in the light of the artifactual theory of law, and (ii) to investigate, in the light of this theory, the decisive role played by documents in the evolution (over time) of institutional practices and legal institutions (for the concrete realization of which a certain documentary technique, and not another, is employed). To this end, I will refer to the theory proposed by Corrado Roversi, which I will interact with the idea of affordance proposed by psychologist James J. Gibson.
