Abstract

Back in the Fascist era, Kelsen's work was translated into Italian by a group of scholars who adhered to the regime (chief among them was A. Volpicelli), and this raises the historiographic question of why they should have taken such an interest in Kelsen. This in turn brings up two further questions. The first of these is whether there even existed such a thing as a "Fascist culture", in which case we would have to identify its features; and the second is how the Fascist scholars' translation of Kelsen influenced the reception of his thought in Italy.
