Abstract

This final note summarizes the lectures delivered at the plenary sessions of the 30th SIFD National Congress. It explores the concept of "limits of the law", in the double meaning of limits posed by the law and limits that the law must or should respect in its functioning. The first meaning points to the boundaries that the law has always drawn, but that today seem to exclude a growing number of human beings from its protection, as Raffaele De Giorgi suggested. The second meaning is the most intriguing and engaging, however, since it reminds us of the numberless limits that the law faces when it pretends to provide solutions to every problem posed in every other social system.
