Abstract

This article offers a contribution to assessing whether distributed ledger technologies (DLT) can enable desirable developments for the Italian Integrated Information System («Sistema Informativo Integrato» – SII) in the energy markets. To this end, this paper analyses the constituent elements of the SII and will show, on the one hand, how it intervenes in the relationships between contracts in the energy sector (in particular, in the retail market) and, on the other hand, that the SII constitutes another essential facility, like the energy grids
