Abstract

The Elsa Morante Archive, housed at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale in Rome, contains a series of political writings dating from the 1960s and 1970s. It is a heterogeneous material that includes preliminary texts of edited essays and sketches left at varying levels of accomplishment. The article provides a description of the archival series and indicates possible lines of critical analysis. The description of this material also appears useful in tracing an entire picture of Morante’s elaborate political writings, which do not appear, as yet, to have been collected or analyzed by critics in a unified manner
