Abstract
The article responds to the remarks addressed to the author in a recent essay on Carlo Dionisotti’s Machiavellian studies, reaffirming that his preconceived idea of a firmly anti-Medici Machiavelli influenced his interpretation of the figure and writings of the Secretary, and moreover, because from his vision of the history and culture of the Florentine Renaissance, emerges the belief that all honest people, without exception, sympathized with the Medici’s opponents
