Abstract
The contribution aims to present the identification of an unknown latin translation of the ‘Ottimo Commento’, datable to the second half of the 14th century. This translation is transmitted by the manuscript Laurenziano Pluteo 43 5, whose commentary, limited to ‘Purgatorio’ and ‘Paradiso’, was considered one of the many latinizations of Lana’s exegesis. Through a textual comparison, it was possible to attribute ‘Purgatorio’ instead to the ‘Ottimo’, specifically to the α branch of its textual tradition. This is the only known case of a systematic translation of the anonymous Florentine commentary.
