Abstract
This article deals with the relationship between two sonnets by Giovanni Boccaccio (xliv and lxxvii, both beginning: ‘Quante fïate indrieto mi rimiro’) and sonnet 298 of Petrarch’s ‘Canzoniere’. Although the prevailing opinion states that Boccaccio’s two texts are inspired by Petrarch’s, the essay argues a different hypothesis: while xliv actually seems to be inspired by Petrarch, lxxvii seems earlier than Rvf, 298.
