Abstract
This introductory article contextualizes the essays by Daniele Tripaldi and René Falkenberg on "Gos. Thom." 61 within the current debate on the "Old Philology" and the "New Philology" as well as on the Nag Hammadi Codices. It also provides some brief methodological considerations on the study of the "Gospel of Thomas" and other early Christian texts.
