Abstract
The burden of this response is to suggest that in addressing the phenomenon of unattributed sayings, we must be prepared to parse sayings into various categories – commonplaces, floating or fully mobile sayings, striking maxims needing authorization, and saying that are sufficiently distinctive, like Yogi Berra’s utterances, that they need no attribution.
