Abstract
The war against the French Convention between 1793 and 1795 is known in Catalonia as the «Guerra gran» (the «Great War»). How can we explain the fact that this conflict still bears that name, even after other later and greater wars - such as for instance the Napoleonic War - have taken place? In response to this question, this article remarks on the interest in analyzing the perception of the war by its contemporaries as well as the will of formation of their historical memory.
