Abstract

In this article we aim at enquiring about the importance of the concept of «utopia» in Henri Lefebvre’s thought connecting it, on one side, with urban studies and, on the other side, with Lefebvre’s scope to renew and update Marx and Engels’s legacy. Our goal is to demonstrate in what way Lefebvrian urban studies are traversed by a new vision of the meaning of «utopia»; infact we’ll be able to understand how the political status of the «right to city» is incomprehensible without the reflection upon the utopia.
