Abstract

In the author’s opinion, the pacifist principle and the repudiation of war – as established by the Italian Constitution – expresses the will to always stop wars, promoted by anyone. If the attacked have the right to defend themselves, it is necessary to call the international community and the states to their responsibilities. From this point of view, it is urgent to interrupt the escalation of the war and to reject its devastating logic. The question that needs to be answered today is how to guarantee peace and future security in relations between nations, in the light of the principles established in the Charter of the United Nations.
