Abstract
Today pacifism is considered as an ideological word: even in the past the communist movement distrusted this word for a long time, especially during the Cold War. Pacifism assert itself in Europe, not only in Great Britain, at the beginning of the 1980s, when a new and great peace movement is born against the nuclear warheads present in OTAN bases. In the author’s opinion, with the second war in Iraq and with the extraordinary demonstration for peace of 15 February 2003, the pacifist movement discovered another decisive front in the struggle for peace: the one against neoliberal globalisation. It was the pacifist movement that drew attention to the role, until then almost ignored, of the political responsibilities of the large international economic organizations in the outbreak of war
