This article examines the political relations between Chile and Italy from the years of Christian Democrat government led by Eduardo Frei Montalva to the first post-dictatorship decade in Chile. In particular, the article focuses on three crucial periods of Chile’s twentieth-century history: the second half of the 1960s; the Unidad Popular government led by Salvador Allende and the dictatorial season
