Abstract
This article deals with the numerous historiography on the making of the Italian political unity and the Italian State-building, published on the occasion of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Unification. The author points out what he calls a sort of political turn of this historiography, which was for a long time particularly interested in economic, social and, more recently, cultural topics. Such a political turn looks very interesting, even if sometimes controversial and maybe too ambitious, when compared to the state of art and the current empirical research. Also, it could end up underestimating the structural phenomena.
