Abstract
In Italy, a history of the peasants is still to be written, although, presumably, nobody will write it. Authors like Rocco Scotellaro, Carlo Levi and Ignazio Silone, had started writing the history of this culture, but the years of the Reconstruction, after the end of World War ii, and the "economic miracle", have put this millenary culture to an end and we are all submerged in a more comfortable but less intelligible world.
