Abstract

This paper presents the project “Sulla buona stradaµ, renamed “Sulla buona strada 2.0µ and its first evaluation. The project was promoted by the local probation office of Mantua and Cremona in 2018. Various stakeholders are involved (lawyers, drug addiction services, some charities and the Association of Italian family members of victims of hit and run drivers) to promote accountability, reciprocity and critical reflection, by accompanying the offenders during the probation program. The offense committed by participants is DUI of alcohol or drugs. The project is characterized by three main aspects: the use of a relational social work paradigm, to promote self-help and peer support in groupwork; the involvement of stakeholders; the adoption of a community justice model. The collected data (qualitative and quantitative) show the positive aspects of the project, leading to its continuation.
