Abstract
In our contemporary societies, instances of datafication and smart technologies are increasingly used even in sensitive contexts such as public security and smart policing. While these processes have clear potential, they still suffer from important limitations. This contribution offers an exploratory analysis of how the advent of datafication in the security sector has been portrayed by media in Italy
