Abstract

This paper outlines the new model for simulation of the Italian labour market produced by the Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini FGB-MDL. The new structure is the fruit of a thorough revision of the basic theoretical assumptions and extension of the range of variables taken into consideration in the previous formulations. The modifications introduced respond to the growing need for information support in the political- economic decision-making process, keeping track of the close interdependences between the various areas of intervention. An example of the practical potential of the model is presented with forecast and simulation analysis of the macroeconomic effects of the recent measures to reform the Italian public social security system and labour regulations.
