Abstract

The intricate phenomenology of the modern manuscript, in the post-analogical era, requires a specific ecdotic due to the proliferation of witnesses and their diverse nature: manuscripts, typescripts, photocopies. The new critical edition of Aldo Moro’s Memorial, published in 2019 by a team led by Michele di Sivo, offers a case study in which the historical, archival, and autopsy study of the document is intertwined with the use of forensic analysis techniques, and is approached and discussed in relation to the ecdotic practices necessary to address, with the methods and tools of reconstructive philology, this particular type of philological case. Finally, the methods and possible advantages of a digital edition are analyzed in relation to the philological case of the Memoriale.
