Abstract

The main purpose of Manzoni online web portal is to house the whole corpus of Manzoni’s marginalia digital reproductions, together with an exhaustive catalogue of the author’s library, his printed works and manuscripts and new tools of research. This essay arises from a very relevant and elaborate annotated book (the Comoediae by Plauto), and reflects upon the challenge that the digital editor must take up to place the special heritage of Manzoni’s marginalia at researchers’ disposal. It is inconceivable that the reader should be left alone with papers wich are often extremely complex: on the contrary, the future users need to be given suitable interpretation tools. This is the only way to turn the availability of the digital reproductions into an in-depth study of Manzoni’s works and into a call to new researches.
