Abstract

Law and legal practice have been pictorial and ritualized ever since. Legal history is rich in pictures, pictorial rituals, and symbols. The legal terminology is also full of metaphors in which things are depicted, epitomized, and spatialized. Nevertheless, legal Order remains a communicative text Order. The pictures used in this Order shall be «read» and they have to be understood considered as part of a useful and meaningful communication
