Abstract

Teenagers nowadays aren’t as transgressive as they once were. The transformations of the social and family bonds’ standards and the internet going mainstream have notably molded the way they approach these bonds. The youth that got to experience only the third millennium has to face greater expectations and ideals of success while trying to evolve through adolescence. Inadequacy and shame replaced the previous generation’s guilt in preventing self-expression and the realization of one’s dreams. Under this new light, risky behaviors acquire new meanings, thus requiring new models in order to better analyze them
