Abstract
In January 2017, the Lombardy regional council approved the chronic illness and fragility management reform. Three years after the reform’s launch, it is possible to conduct a first quantitative and qualitative appraisal of its implementation. This article reconstructs and comments on the results of the reform, using the conceptual framework of socio-relational and psychological dynamics. In particular, the concepts of loyalty, defection and protest are used to evaluate and interpret the behaviour of chronic patients in response to the offer to participate in the reform.
