Abstract

Nowadays, parenting support is one of the most important objectives of social policies for children: this is a social investment measure but it is also an issue for family and labor policy intervention. Focusing on the fourth Italian «National Plan for the Protection of Children's rights and their development» (2016), the briefing note highlights policy implementation difficulties, due to the fragmentation of responsibilities among the National, regional and local levels of government. And yet, parenting support, which cuts across different social policy areas (particularly child, teenager, family, and labor policy) remains the core of an innovative approach to this crucial welfare field.
