Abstract
This note focuses on the growing role of occupational welfare in Italy, considering in particular its relation with collective bargaining. Indeed, over the last years, intersectoral agreements and sectoral collective agreements have increasingly incorporated the definition of occupational welfare schemes among the matters of bargaining, well beyond the sectors where occupational welfare schemes are traditionally developed. In a context of persistent economic difficulties, however, such change implies both opportunities and risks for collective bargaining and trade union actions.
