Abstract

This article is part of a "cross-over" research project of the Department of cultural heritage (University of Bologna - Ravenna Campus) and it is about the valorization of cultural heritage and public sites through the diffusion of the most modern information technologies (3D modelling system). In particular the case of "Piazzetta degli Ariani" (UNESCO site), which is located in the center of Ravenna city and suffering chronic problems of physical and social deterioration, was studied. The use of 3D technologies could be seen as a very important "tool" for a higher diffusion of the knowledge of the cultural heritages among the citizens and consequently its own economic, cultural and social valorization.
