The Reform of Government Departments in the Spending Review Framework
Abstract
In recent years the Italian Parliament approved several measures to reduce the total number of public employees and structures of the central administration of the State. These reforms have two purposes: to contain public expenditure and to increase the efficiency of public administrations. The article investigates the consequences of the Spending Review process on Government Departments and compares the last measures with the previous ones. Eventually, it aims at verifying if the expected objectives have been achieved.
