Abstract

After over a century of activity in the construction of national catalogue of cultural heritage, the widespread impression is that this catalogue does not exist or that otherwise does not produce the longawaited effects. One reason for this difficulty of appreciation is that we have to manage a complex reality, whose actors are many and linked by complicated relationships that have had over the years great changes and still await a new composition. The paper analyzes the characteristics of the network of authorities which form part of the national catalogue of cultural heritage, the operating mode and the related governance issues.
