Abstract

Depopulation is a phenomenon that seriously affects inner areas of the country. The consequences of this phenomenon have an impact on these communities at all levels, including the management of their cultural and natural heritage. However, cultural heritage has great potential to contribute to economic activity's regeneration in these areas. In this context the paper aims at analyzing the problem, through two main issues: cultural routes and cultural governance. Finally, the paper aims at drawing first suggestions for further research in order to improve cultural heritage enhancement in inner areas.
