Abstract
'The school I wish. The voice of youth on the school' is a study on the Italian high school, which in 2010 involved in a first qualitative phase 47 Italian university students, who had had a high school year abroad, about their ideas, thoughts, proposals for a better Italian school. Privileged observers, as insiders and outsiders of the Italian school context looked back in the light of their experience in a school abroad and in the university, they proved to be informed, documented, surprised and extraordinarily motivated by being given voice. They have formulated their thoughts originally in language, contents, arguments, addressing crucial topics of the present debate about school, and making clear the need to deeply renew the way we think and discuss school matters through a serious observation and consideration of the actual experience on stage and in the backstage of school life. Although they recognize the strength of the Italian school, they have felt disregarded as protagonists.
