Abstract
Luca Serianni was not only a great historian of the Italian language, but also a scholar attentive to the world of education and committed to discussing the problems of language teaching. His reflections on the teaching of grammar and, more generally, on the concept of linguistic norm lead us to conceive language as an important element of everyone’s cultural and civil identity. In this article, particular attention is paid to his parallel between language and law, against the backdrop of the linguistic and educational debates of the last fifty years
