Abstract
The method of knowledge has been one of the most discussed themes in ancient philosophy and at the origins of modern philosophy. On the contrary, such theme is virtually ignored in contemporary philosophy. As a matter of fact, over the past three centuries, the interest in method has diminished to the point of completely disappearing. The aim of this article is to examine, as far as possible in a limited space, some salient points in the history of the method of knowledge, and to analyse the reasons for the disappearance of the theme of method from contemporary philosophy.
