Abstract
The current pandemic has dealt the coup de grâce to the «century of labour», leading us out of the twentieth century. Non employment is still the most feared social spectre, and as such never addressed, because work has always been considered essential to keep society together. In recent years, technology has replaced human labour in many areas, and has gradually reshaped society. The pandemic has accelerated and unveiled this process, thus imposing a radical reflection on its effects in the short and long term. Discussing non employment means addressing the issue of new forms of income and access to knowledge. Our future will depend on how we will cope with and guide this process.
