Abstract

In a page of his famous blog, the author of the article, founder of "Wired", talks about his recent encounter with Iqbal Quadir, formerly at Harvard and now at MIT, during a seminar on the importance of technology to alleviate poverty. The article summarises Quadir's talk, the discussion that followed, and describes some of the issues presented. Throughout his talk, Quadir reiterates: "To raise productivity (and wealth), raise connectivity". And Kelly concludes: "Those technologies that up connectivity will more likely do good. So far I have not thought of any counter examples."
