Abstract
The importance of corporate social responsibility has been broadly acknowledged and its characteristics are well known. The recent scandals - accounting frauds and manipulation - have significantly changed the perception of CSR. Some scholars critically underline the need for a sounder basis and involvement of firms in CSR activities. The article scrutinizes recent studies by Kunal Basu, Guido Palazzo and Andreas George Scherer.
