Abstract
This essay continues the author's critical research on modernity, the nation state and the concept of China redefined on the basis of its «internal horizons». The keystone of the analysis is the concept of minzu, which in Chinese means both nation and nationality, i.e. the many ethnic groups that live on the Chinese territory.
