Abstract
Up until the end of the 1990s, the decline of public and private enterprises in Italy and the close alliance between capitalism and the banks produced an economic construct that I have defined marketless capitalism. Privatizations have since transformed it into a nepotistic capitalism, and today, due to the persisting economic crisis, the power (banks, industries, etc.) that had embodied this capitalism is collapsing.
