Abstract
Energy transition in the Mediterranean is an important challenge for the countries of both shores because of their demographic weight, the expected rise of energy demand in the region, the commitments for the security of energy supply and the environmental and climate impacts due to conventional fossil fuels. The article starts with a study based on the forecast carried out by MEDENER and OME on energy transition to 2040, according to which the energy trend should change for all the countries in the region, speeding up energy efficiency efforts and developing renewables within sustainable development constraints.
