Abstract
The forest area in Italy has grown over the last decade. This process has been determined mainly by migrations from the rural, agricultural and mountainous areas rather than by planned reforestation. Fires are affected by poor forest management, temperature rise and droughts. Actions for forest risk reduction and ecosystems adaptation to climate change are required.
