Abstract
This paper aims at contextualizing the well known 1909 Santi Romano lecture on the modern State crisis. The Author remarks that Romano, on one hand, was impressed by the progress of corporatism; on the other, reacted to the 1908 book by Léon Duguit on the transformation of the State.
