Abstract
From 1st December 1923 to 1956-57 a hierarchical system of civilian and military personnel, including all State employees in a single system and abolishing the inequalities and differences of economic treatment between different categories, was in force in Italy. Whatever the administration of membership, to the same rank corresponded equal salary. this essay describes the configuration of that system, with particular reference to the higher ranks of the "group A", whose competition for admission required degree.
