Abstract

The first part of the paper formulates the best version of a maximizing, impartial rule-consequentialist theory of morality, distinguishing it both from partial and satisfying versions of consequentialism and from act-consequentialist views. Then, this form of rule-consequentialism is defended from some recent objections raised by Robert Card against its reliance on reflective equilibrium.
