Abstract
The papers included in this section deal with secularism, not primarily understood as a notion pertaining to the relationship between the state and religion, but rather as related to the ways in which democratic states address diversity. Two issues, of particular relevance in this context, are at the core of the papers included: the proper relationship between the state and religions on one hand, and the meaning of religious freedom on the other.
